I hope hope hope more breweries get on board with canning beer (good beer). 21st amendment tops my list of canned beers for the winter…so far…excited to try some of the offerings from Avery after enjoying a sixer of their old jubilation recently.
Back to the fireside chat—its a “winter spiced ale”—pours a dark but slightly amber color, about 1/4 inch of tan head. An amazing aroma that screams Christmas to me. I’m not a HUGE fan of 21st amendment, but this beer is GREAT. Its a strong ale with a nice addition of spices that add a little something nice that doesn’t overpower the actual beer part of this beer. Festive is the best way to describe it. Heavy on the malt, light on the hops (45 IBU) you get a solid taste of chocolate.
Troegs (my go to “session” brewery) Dead Reckoning Porter. Strong chocolate, bit of chicory. Not alcohol forward at all. 5.4% abv makes it a good early in the evening drink. Pours black but not midnight, motor oil thick black by any means. Goes down quick and delicious but not overly complicated.
Want to get someone into drinking “good beer” or “Dark beer” this is a great place to start
Apparently, Rogue beer teamed up with Voodoo to create a bacon maple ale. Oh, yum.

Adweek has a story on the slightly bizarre low-budget ads Will Ferrell is doing for Old Milwaukee. Which are only airing in Iowa.
